Three distinct segments. One
underlying commitment
Dorel's strength lies in the diversity and superiority
of its brands. Each segment consists of several operating divisions
or subsidiaries. Dorel's Juvenile
segment offers well-known brands in infant car seats, strollers,
high chairs, toddler beds, cribs, infant health and safety aids,
play-yards and juvenile accessories. The Home
Furnishings segment specializes in a wide variety of ready-to-assemble
(RTA) furniture for home and office use as well as metal folding
furniture, futons, step stools, ladders and other imported furniture
items. Dorel's Recreational/Leisure
segment markets its products under popular brand names in high-quality
bicycles and other recreational products.
While separate management teams
operate each business segment independently, Dorel strives to maximize
cross-selling, cross-marketing, procurement and other complementary
business opportunities. For example, the Company achieves many synergies
through its Dorel China office, which provides support to all Dorel
segments. Among other things, it provides quality assurance, supply
certification, sourcing of materials and freight forwarding.
Throughout its worldwide operations,
Dorel's disciplined, consistent approach to product development
is underlined by the commitment of the various design teams dedicated
to innovation, quality and safety.
Worldwide presence
Dorel has established strong distribution channels from
the world's largest mass merchants to specialty boutiques. These
are serviced through facilities and offices located in North
America, Europe and Asia. Dorel employs approximately 5,000
people and its products are sold in over 60 countries worldwide.
Dorel's initial public offering
was in July 1987 ($5.00 per share - pre 2-1 stock split). |
